Carrying Out My Job Role

Above is photographic evidence of me as the lighting operator in the tech box on the show, In The Heights. I followed the cues I had prepared with Gemma (DSM) in the plotting / technical rehearsal. We communicated via coms as speaking normally would be too loud and distracting for the audience.

I had to be there for the rigging sessions, I was working along side the lighting designer Jordan for this, I would be up the tallescope rigging the lights while he was directing me where abouts they need to be pointing. Aswell as this I attended the focusing sessions, for this I was getting used to the lighting desk while Julie (technician) was focusing the lights when Jordan was directing her. I was learning the different fixtures and groups that the designer had set up.

Safe Working Practises

When we were rigging / focusing the lights, we wore hard hats to prevent injury and the tallescope was secure with the breaks on when not being moved. No less than 2 people could be with the tallescope when it was in use because it was not safe to leave someone on their own.
Also for health and safety, we gaffa taped all wires / cables to the ground to prevent anyone tripping over. We also made sure there were no loose wires around / it was out of harms way e.g. right under the table.
We also banned fizzy drinks and food from the tech box to avoid damaging the equipment.
